v2.7.6October 13, 2026

Help, right in the app

Find step-by-step help without leaving the app, see at a glance which filters are on in your library, and change your email address yourself.

  • New: help in the app. Tap "How do I…?" in Settings, or open Paige's help, and search simple step-by-step guides. "Take me there" opens the right screen, and if a guide doesn't help, one tap sends us a message.
  • Your library shows each active filter as a label. Tap one to remove it, or "Show all" to see every book again. The filter button lights up while a filter is on.
  • Reading sessions: change a session's time, not just its date, when you edit it or log a past one.
  • Change your email address in Settings. A code goes to the new address to confirm it. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook, your address comes from that account.
  • Bars, polls, charts and progress are easy to see on every theme, including dark ones.
  • Book bracket: tap a winner again to undo it, replay the matches, reset your bracket, or put a month back to its suggestion. A win now stays with the book that won it.
  • Challenges show every book that counts, not just the first 100.
  • Privacy: new accounts start private, news emails come only if you turn them on, and app statistics are never linked to your account. Our Privacy Policy and Terms are updated (October 12).
  • On a computer: select and copy text anywhere, right-click works again, and the book bracket shows its builder and its card side by side.
  • Also: covers fill their spot in polls, rating posts and the bracket, and links you share now use bookneko.com. Old links keep working.
v2.7.5October 7, 2026

Your book of the year

Crown your book of the year with the new book bracket, tag books faster with #, and share cards that finish publishing even when the connection drops.

  • New: your book bracket. Each month's best-rated book enters a bracket, or pick a top 8 or a podium. Play the matches, crown your book of the year and share it as a card, as a pyramid or as two halves meeting in the middle. Find it in Stats.
  • Shared cards and wrap-ups finish publishing even if the connection drops or you leave the app, and a small banner shows their progress.
  • Tagging a book with # suggests your own books first, right away, and takes full titles.
  • Library search finds a book from any words of its title, author or series, in any order, accents ignored.
  • Reviews and posts with symbols like & or <3, or with links, can now be translated.
  • In Nook channels, messages and comments, what you send always scrolls into view, and polls on a Nook's board grow to show every option.
  • Monthly wrap-ups count more accurately and always fit the screen, and switching a card's format in the share studio re-arranges it to fit.
  • On iPhone, adding books from a very large library no longer restarts the app, and on a computer Back returns you to where you were in your Library.
v2.7.4October 3, 2026

Fixes: Back, chats and imports

This release is all about fixes: Back goes where you expect, Nook chats stay on the latest message, and imports keep your accents and dates.

  • Back: after you save a book or a list, one tap takes you back to where you were. After adding a book, Back returns to where you found it, and a deleted list or a Nook you left no longer comes back.
  • Nook chats: channel discussions open on the latest message and stay there when the keyboard opens or pictures load. They no longer pull you down while you read older messages, and picture-only messages no longer jump into place.
  • Shared cards and monthly wrap-ups no longer publish as a broken, see-through card, and publishing no longer spins forever.
  • Newer emoji show in colour instead of empty boxes, and a name that starts with an emoji gets a proper initial.
  • Search: reader and Nook search ignore accents and apostrophes ("cloe" finds Cloé), a reader who changed their name is found by the new one, and the book picker finds series and ISBNs.
  • Imports: accents in files saved from Excel on Windows come through, files that were wrongly refused now import, the date you added each book is kept, big libraries no longer time out, and a refused file tells you why.
  • Your books: a second copy of a book starts fresh, so your first read keeps counting, and a book added as already read shows up everywhere right away.
  • In French, dates and badge names show in French, and notifications arrive in your app's language.
  • On iPhone, the + button for a custom colour opens the colour picker. On a computer, notifications and new badges arrive live.
  • Also fixed: a challenge's badge shows in Curios, the Social dot no longer stays lit for messages you're reading, no more sideways sliding in the profile editor, a tall header no longer covers small screens, and tour tips stay on screen.
v2.7.3October 1, 2026

Booknook is now Bookneko

Same app, same library, same friends: just a new name. This release also tells you how much time is left in your book, lets you change a loan's return date, and shows covers wherever they exist.

  • Booknook is now Bookneko. Your account, books, Nooks and friends stay exactly as they were.
  • Time left: see about how long you have left in the book you're reading, from your own timed sessions, on your reading card, on the book's page and while you log a sitting.
  • Loans: change the return date of a book you lent or borrowed, and your friend's copy follows.
  • The profil edit preview has been adjusted to reflect the final result.
  • Finding readers: your friends names now come first, in search and in @mentions.
  • Monthly wrap-up: a card you switch to Square or Story shares in that format, covers you add yourself appear in the post, and you're told before anything is published if a picture didn't load.
  • Covers show wherever one exists (the book's, its edition's or your own) in challenges, lists, collections, your reading journal, messages and the feed, and a cover that fails to load tries again instead of staying blank.
  • One notification when someone reacts to many of your posts at once, instead of one per post.
  • Fixes: finishing a book with no page count marks it as read, covers no longer come out blank on cards shared from an iPhone or iPad, preparing a wrap-up resumes when you come back to the app, and many smaller fixes.
v2.7.2September 29, 2026

Polls, voice notes and golden paws

Your notes can now hold photos and your voice, your posts can ask a question, and a profile you love can get a golden paw. Plus spoilers in messages, a real welcome for new Nook members, and a long round of fixes.

  • Notes with photos, a GIF or your voice: up to 4 photos and a 5-minute voice recording per note. A note no longer needs text.
  • Polls in your posts: up to 10 options, written or picked from books, with an optional closing date. You're told when readers vote.
  • Golden paws: give one to a profile board you love, tap again to take it back. You can turn them off in Privacy.
  • Spoilers in messages and Nook chats: hidden until tapped, including in previews, replies, and notifications.
  • New Nook members get a welcome: a card in General that members can wave at, and an optional welcome note from the hosts.
  • Pin a challenge to your profile board.
  • Make it yours: wear a badge beside your name, and with Creative, wear two auras at once and add your own photo to a share card. Finished-book cards now open in one of ten looks.
  • Library: sort by title, series, date finished or your rating, filter by your rating, and see your stars on covers.
  • Your copy, your details: the language, publisher, date and page count you set show everywhere, and an audiobook can be tracked in hours, minutes and seconds.
  • Changing plans: on the web an upgrade charges only the difference, on Android it replaces your plan instead of adding a second one, and Creative subscribers can now use a creator code.
  • On a computer: a new Home with your reading track and readers to discover, and profiles laid out like the app.
  • Fixes: book scores count each reader once, audiobook progress no longer reads page numbers as time, an edited note keeps its place, feed photos no longer stay black, iPhone videos keep their full size, badge counts corrected, and many smaller fixes.
v2.7.0September 16, 2026

Challenges, rebuilt

Challenges have been rebuilt from the ground up: more ways to challenge yourself, reading together, and progress you can actually see. Plus a good round of fixes.

  • Five kinds of challenges: a number of books, a list to read, some books from a list, a series in order, or a number of pages.
  • Genre challenges, with book suggestions picked from your own shelves and wishlist first.
  • A new way to create a challenge, step by step, with your own banner.
  • Each challenge now shows its progress its own way: a stamp card, a shelf, a path, a gauge.
  • Collective challenges: read together toward one shared total, Booknook edition.
  • A new Challenges tab in Social: official challenges, our ambassadors' and your friends'.
  • Share your progress in one tap, with a picture of your challenge and its books.
  • Readers now wear their rings and decorations in challenges.
  • Fewer notifications: one reading counts once, even across several challenges.
  • Fixes: ratings missing from achievements and shared images, more accurate reading stats and finish dates, Google sign-in on iPhone, and many smaller corrections.
v2.6.3September 7, 2026

Ratings that hold up, requests you can follow

A tune-up release. Your ratings count only real scores, a super rating shows as one while you set it, the books you asked us to add now come back with an answer, and a shared book link opens for whoever you sent it to.

  • A super rating now shows as super while you set it — the tap no longer looks lost at 5.00
  • Ratings brought in from a file no longer inflate an average: a page count that landed in a rating column counts as 5, and never mints a super star
  • Logging a session on a book you had already finished no longer erases its finish date
  • Books you asked us to add now appear under Report an issue, each with a plain answer about what happened to it
  • A shared book link opens for whoever you sent it to, signed in or not
  • French books find covers in the Québec catalogue when the English sources have none
  • A creator's code on the web now charges the partner price, and says plainly when it can't apply to a subscription you already have
v2.6.2September 5, 2026

Invites that land, numbers that add up

A maintenance release. A shared invite now opens the offer instead of a login wall, your reading numbers count only what was actually measured, and text stops breaking mid-emoji.

  • A shared invite or creator code now opens the offer — not your own dashboard, and not a login wall
  • Invite links open even when you're signed out with the app already installed
  • Text shortened for a preview no longer cuts an emoji in half — in message previews, notifications, reply quotes and shared links
  • Reading pace and average time per book count only the sessions you actually timed, and say how many they're based on
  • Hide the tile on a header without losing your decoration or colour
v2.6.1September 2, 2026

Halloween is here

Fifteen new looks for your reader profile: five rings for your avatar, five auras for the page, and a rebuilt picker that shows each one moving before you choose.

  • Five new rings around your avatar: Drip, Cobweb, Horns, Fangs and Bats
  • Five new auras for the page: Fog, Ghosts, Tombstones, Pumpkins and Spiders
  • Five new halloween themes: Full Moon, Cimetary, Halloween candy, Toxic, Vampvamp
  • The effects picker now previews every effect in motion before you pick it
  • Covers no longer come out blank on a shared card
  • A publication date that isn't a real date is caught while you type
  • A Nook conversation that fails to load no longer reads "no messages yet" — it says what happened and lets you reopen it
v2.6.0August 27, 2026

Add any book. Choose what interrupts you.

Two things you asked for most. A book the catalog doesn't have is now yours to add in seconds, and notifications finally have real controls — quiet hours included.

  • Can't find a book? Add it yourself — it works right away, and we link it to the catalog if it turns up later
  • Notification settings: quiet hours, and nine categories you control one at a time
  • 100 badges instead of 21 — for what you read, not just how much
  • Creator codes: 20–25% off Booknook Creative for a full year
  • A friend's invite now survives sign-up — enter the code first, the free month still follows
  • Challenge and goal progress moves as you log pages
  • Reading sessions land on the right day, in any timezone
  • Long threads stay put — a new reaction no longer drops you to the bottom
  • More covers, loading faster, in more places
v2.5.2August 17, 2026

Steadier, top to bottom

No new features this time — just the everyday parts of Booknook made dependable. Covers that load, a library that survives a dead connection, videos that post in seconds, and mentions that actually reach the person you named.

  • Book covers load reliably everywhere — in grids, in pickers, and while you scroll fast. No more covers stuck shimmering forever.
  • Your library works offline: your shelf and its covers stay on screen without a connection.
  • An outage no longer tells you your own library is private — it says what's actually wrong.
  • Videos are prepared on your phone before uploading, so posting a clip takes seconds instead of minutes.
  • Videos start sharp instead of blurry, and only the clip you're looking at loads — lighter on data and memory.
  • Sound follows the post you're viewing, with a proper mute/unmute control.
  • @mentions in comments, replies and messages now link to the person and notify them — a reply no longer posts a name as plain text.
  • The feed stops bringing back posts you've already read, while still filling up when there's little new.
  • Collection banners show again on profile board pins.
  • Better cover artwork, and more French titles turn up in search.
v2.5.1August 13, 2026

Explore is now the Board

Explore has become the Booknook Board: what we're publishing, what we're building, and new books to find — all in one place. And now you can talk back.

  • Explore now opens the Booknook Board — news, the roadmap, release notes and book discovery together.
  • Comment on articles and events, reply to other readers, and react with any emoji.
  • You're notified only when someone replies to you directly or reacts to your comment — never for the rest of the thread.
  • Search moved to its own screen, with a compact bar and its options tucked into a sheet.
  • Discovery shelves now show whose books they are, right on the cover.
  • Roadmap voting got a button that actually looks like voting.
  • Articles are public — share one with anyone, no account needed.
v2.5.0August 12, 2026

Your reading month, on a card

Every month you read now has a story of its own — a set of cards you can shape and share. The Share Studio learned new tricks, book pages gained the community's voice, and a long list of things you flagged are fixed.

  • Monthly wrap-up — a swipeable set of cards for every month you've read. Pick your book of the month, choose which numbers appear, edit any card in the Studio, then share them or post them to Booknook.
  • New card effects in the Share Studio — hearts, dust and shimmer, custom patterns, and stat, rating and badge stickers. With Creative, the effects animate and export as a GIF.
  • Favourites — mark any book as a favourite. On Creative, favourites get a foil finish.
  • Filter and search your shelves — find books by Favourites, Signed or Deluxe, or search your library by title.
  • Reactions and photos in comments — the full reaction set on posts and activities, plus one photo per comment.
  • What readers are saying — book pages now show the community's ratings and reviews, and the other editions readers are using.
  • Private ratings — keep a rating to yourself. It stays off the book page and out of the book's average.
  • Audiobooks read better — your position reached and time listened now show where a page count used to be assumed.
  • Goals you can correct — remove a book that shouldn't count, and import your reading history when you finish a book in a different edition.
  • Clearer profiles — private and friends-only nooks now explain themselves, and books in common separate what you've both read from what you've both shelved.
  • Your own glow — pick a colour for your page aura, and a separate one for your avatar ring.
  • Save images to your gallery — cards and photos land in a Booknook album.
  • Tags in your language — the whole tag vocabulary is now translated.
  • Faster feed and library, quicker covers, and the app now opens what it already has when the network is slow.
  • Fixes — likes that quietly undid themselves, replies stuck in the comment box, videos stuck on "processing", reading sessions landing on the wrong day, and a book picker that wouldn't respond in long lists.
v2.4.2August 5, 2026

The things that quietly did nothing

A fixes release. Taps that didn't register, shortcuts that went to the wrong page, a camera that refused without saying so, tags stuck in English, polls you couldn't read — all of it rounded up and dealt with.

  • Genres and formats speak your language. Book tags and edition formats came out of the catalogue in English no matter your setting. They now follow your app language everywhere they appear.
  • The camera says why it didn't open. Scanning a quote with camera or photo access turned off used to do nothing at all — a button that looked fine and went nowhere. You now get a message telling you exactly what to turn on in your phone's settings.
  • Big libraries can pick books again. In the book picker, anything past your 1,000th book looked perfectly normal but wouldn't respond to a tap. Fixed.
  • Shortcuts land where they should. Friends and Messages in your quick access menu quietly dropped you on the feed; they now open your friends panel and your conversations. Leaving or blocking inside a conversation takes you back to Messages too.
  • Follower counts open the right list. Tapping the followers or following number on a profile now opens that list instead of always the friends tab — and a profile opened from a push notification finally clears its badge.
  • Nook polls are readable. Long book titles are no longer cut off mid-word, empty result bars stay hidden until the first vote lands, and poll tiles are sized for what's actually in them.
  • Add a book with no ISBN. Submitting a book we don't have no longer requires an ISBN — tick the box, and a librarian looks it up and links your book to the right edition.
  • Book pages and rails. A "What readers are saying" card gathers other readers' ratings and reviews on a book, and on a computer your mouse wheel now scrolls every book rail, not just some of them.
  • Audio editions count in time. A session on an audio book now logs and shows a position and a listening time instead of a page number, and drops the pages-per-hour pace, which never meant anything for a listener.
  • Snapping in the Studio. Arranging a share card now has a Snap toggle, so elements line up on their own — or don't, if you'd rather place them by hand.
v2.4.1August 1, 2026

Your reading month, as a story you can share

Every month you read, Booknook now turns it into a set of cards — your books, your numbers, your favourite of the month — that you can edit, keep, and share. Plus a long list of smaller fixes to likes, saved images, and shared shelves.

  • Monthly Wrap-Up. Swipe through your reading month: the covers you finished, your month by the numbers, your book of the month, and a day-by-day view of when you actually read.
  • Make the cards yours. Edit any card in the Studio — move things around, pick which indicators appear, choose your own book of the month. Your changes are saved as a draft and stay put.
  • Share the whole month at once. Export all your cards to your gallery in one tap, or post them straight to your Booknook feed with a word about the month.
  • Save images to your gallery. Images in a post now have a real Save button — no more holding down the picture and hoping. On Android they land in a Booknook album.
  • Likes and reactions actually stick. Fixed the bug where a like would quietly undo itself a second later. Reactions now retry on a bad connection and tell you when they truly failed.
  • Clearer private profiles. Visiting someone who reads in private now explains what's shared and what isn't, instead of showing an empty page.
  • Books in common, sorted out. A new "Also shared" tab, and the counts now match what you can actually see.
  • Reading calendar and stats polish. A cleaner month calendar, a Queries tab on your stats page, and a clear explanation when an edition has no page count to track progress against.
  • Book pages tidied up. The reading-status button behaves the same everywhere, and tapping a book from someone else's shelf takes you to the right place instead of dead-ending.
v2.4.0July 30, 2026

Share Studio: design a card for anything you read — plus public book clubs and photos you can zoom right into

This release is about showing your reading off properly. Share Studio turns every share card into a small design studio inside Booknook: pick a book, a list, a goal, your club or your whole reader profile, move things around until the card looks like yours, then post it to your feed or take it anywhere else. Everything else in 2.4 makes what you share hold up — book clubs get a real public page, private books ask before they go out, and photos finally zoom.

  • Share Studio, your way. Every share card is now a canvas you can actually edit — drag, resize, rotate and lock anything on it. Add text, stickers, photos, book covers, your rating or your progress, and export as a Story, a Square or a Post.
  • Share nearly anything. A book, an edition, a list, a collection, a reading goal, a book haul, a book you just finished, your book club, or your reader profile.
  • Make it yours. Colours, backgrounds, gradients, dots and grids, five new frames, layouts, confetti and sparkles — plus a Reset that puts the card back exactly the way it arrived.
  • Lists that count. A shared list keeps its real order, fits up to 36 books, and carries the same number or paw stickers you use in the list itself.
  • One button at the end. Post it to your feed, download the image, send it through your phone's share sheet, or copy a link — and a shared list, collection or club now shows up on the feed with its own label instead of a trophy.
  • Book clubs worth an invitation. A Nook card is now a proper invite with your club's crest, and a public Nook has a real page anyone can open — no Booknook account needed.
  • Your reader card. Your profile as a card: your banner, your avatar, your aura, a few true stats and a rail of covers.
  • Private books stay your call. Posting about a book you've marked private now asks first, and reveals it in that one post only — your book stays private everywhere else.
  • Photos you can look at properly. Pinch, double-tap and drag to zoom up to 6× — in posts and in chat attachments, which now use the same viewer. Press and hold a photo (or right-click) to save it.
  • Messages that actually send. Photos are resized before they're sent, so a full-size phone photo goes through — and when a send does fail, it now tells you why instead of blaming your connection.
  • Polls about anything. Nook polls aren't only for books any more — vote on a theme, a date, or "none of these" — with no accidental duplicate options.
  • Better book lookups. Scanning or typing an ISBN finds more editions, French titles included, and two different books no longer land on the same record.
  • Smaller things. Half stars now render as half stars on shared cards. Finishing a book celebrates even if you skip writing the review. Share Studio works on a desktop screen. And a book you submit reliably reaches our librarians — a rejected one no longer sits at "under review" forever.
  • A new Fire reaction joins the tray, and every reaction was recoloured so it stays readable on the darker themes instead of fading into the card.
  • Edit, delete or report a message — the same actions in direct messages and in your book clubs.
  • Create a conversation in your club by name, or set up a numbered one for every chapter in a single step.
  • Post about a Public club and it goes to the main feed, with a link that opens even for people without an account. Post about a Friends only club and it goes to that club's own wall — the link and the image are still yours to send to anyone you'd like to invite. Private clubs stay invite-only.
  • Your friends list now shows how many books each of you has in common, and it respects everyone's privacy settings.
  • Big lists and collections no longer stop partway through — they used to quietly cut off at 100 books.
v2.3.0July 27, 2026

Audiobooks by the clock, a calmer social side, and notifications that finally land

This release answers the two things readers asked for most: audiobooks that count in hours and minutes instead of pages, and a social side that's easier to move around. Plus push notifications that actually arrive on iPhone and iPad.

  • Audiobooks, by the clock — set a book's length in hours and minutes, log where you are as a timestamp, and see time elapsed or time left. Any book can be counted in pages or in time, your call.
  • Messages have their own home — search every conversation, filter to unread, and pick up where you left off.
  • The bell is now an inbox — notifications and messages side by side, with mark all read and clear all.
  • A calmer Social hub — two tabs instead of four, one card per reader instead of a wall of repeats, and a Following / Discover switch on the feed.
  • See who's around — a rail of readers active right now, with a peek at what they've been up to.
  • Readers who read what you read — new suggestions built on the books you have in common and the ratings you agree on.
  • Privacy in plain words — Public, Friends only, or Private, each one explained, plus follow requests you can accept or decline and a switch to stop being suggested to others.
  • Nooks you can arrange — reorder and collapse channels, let members add their own poll options, rename discussions, and create a whole run of chapter channels in one go.
  • Notifications that arrive — push now works on iPhone and iPad, and Android banners show up properly instead of landing silently.
  • Paige got smarter — she runs on our strongest model, and a new panel lists everything she can do.
  • Clearer plans — Creative and Premium side by side, with a 30-day free trial on Premium.
  • Longer Reels — Can upload videos for up to 5 minutes now.
v2.2.1July 26, 2026

Imports that keep your ISBNs, more French books, and progress your way

A repair-and-polish release. Big fixes to library imports, a lot more French books in search, and a reading pane that finally lets you set a book's length yourself.

  • BookMory imports now read your file's columns by name instead of by position — libraries that came in with no ISBNs at all, page counts taken from star ratings, or tags pulled out of comments now import correctly.
  • Books we can't match automatically stay in the queue instead of quietly disappearing, and unresolvable leftovers get cleaned up on their own.
  • Many more French titles show up in search: we now draw on an open-data index of Québec and French publishing, and we never show a book without a cover.
  • No page count on your edition? Set the length yourself right in the reading pane — in pages, or in minutes for audiobooks — and the progress bar comes back to life.
  • Log your progress as a page number or as a percentage; both fields stay in sync as you type.
  • Listening time no longer inflates your "pages read" totals — audiobooks are counted in their own unit.
  • Removing a book or clearing its sessions no longer leaves empty "logged a reading session" cards behind in the feed.
  • When a book data source is temporarily unreachable, we no longer save a half-empty record for a new book.
  • Improved Feed and Library fetch speed
v2.2.0July 24, 2026

Effortless library imports, one-tap email, and cozier Nooks

Moving in from another app used to mean a lot of fiddly cleanup. Not anymore. Version 2.2 brings your whole library over for you, makes verifying your email a single step, and gives you more say over what you share in your Nooks.

  • Bring your whole library, hands-free. Import from Bookmory, Goodreads, StoryGraph, or Babelio and we'll add your books for you — matching them in the background while you keep reading. Close the app if you like; we'll let you know the moment it's done.
  • A quick review, only when we're unsure. For books without an ISBN, we suggest the best match and set anything uncertain aside for a fast, one-tap "This one / Not this" check — no mess to clean up.
  • Live import progress. A little pill keeps you posted as books are looked up and added, with a tap for details.
  • Verify your email in one step. Enter the 6-digit code we send you — no hunting through links — and keep reading while it lands.
  • Share your reading on your terms. In a Nook, flip on "Share my progress here" per channel. Your account and library privacy stay exactly as they were.
  • Nicer on the big screen. A cleaner desktop and tablet layout with fresh page banners.
  • Plus faster, French-first book discovery and the usual round of polish and fixes.
  • Various minor fixes
v2.1.0July 23, 2026

React, discover, and settle in faster

Version 2.1 makes the feed feel alive. Say more than "like" with a full set of reactions, see how your posts are landing, and enjoy a "For You" that stays fresh. New readers get a gentler start, and your Profile and Nook boards are smoother to arrange.

  • More ways to react — beyond the heart, tap and hold any post to react with Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, or Angry.
  • See who reacted — open a post's reactions to see every reader and how they felt.
  • View counts — posts now show how many readers have seen them.
  • A fresher "For You" — the feed learns from what you've already seen and reacted to, so you get less repetition and more new reads.
  • A simpler welcome — new readers just pick a language and go; your home fills in with the right widgets as you use the app.
  • Smoother boards — free placement for pins and a more reliable drag-and-drop editor on Profile and Nook boards.
v2.0.0July 22, 2026

Booknook 2.0 — Your Shelf, Your Story, Your People

Our biggest release yet. We rebuilt Profiles and Nooks from the ground up, gave your Library a proper home banner, and made finishing a book something worth celebrating — and sharing. Plus a whole new way to connect with friends around the books you both love.

  • A new header banner for your Library, with all its capabilities in one place.
  • Finishing a book now triggers a celebration and a shareable achievement.
  • Share your completed books straight to the Booknook feed — or share them anywhere.
  • A redesigned header with more of you at a glance (Creative tier unlocks the full set of customizations).
  • A personal Board with new pin options.
  • A brand-new interface and easier ways to discover new Nooks.
  • Themes and customization (Creative).
  • Board improvements.
  • Collage pins (Creative).
  • Announcements, posts, channels and conversations — link a book to any channel to automatically track your members' reading progress.
  • See what you have in common: matching ratings, similar progress, and books you've both read to talk about.
  • Browse a friend's full Library.
  • Add your social media links.
  • Better wishlist management.
  • Many small fixes.
v1.18.0July 15, 2026

Invite friends, dig into your stats, and read on the big screen

Share Booknook with a friend and you both get a month of Premium on us. Power readers get a beefed-up Query Builder, and the desktop experience grows up in a big way.

  • Refer a friend — when they join and add their first book, you both get a free month of Premium
  • Query Builder (Premium) rebuilt: more filters, and save your favorite queries to run again anytime
  • A full desktop web experience — Messages, Collections, Lists, and a redesigned profile on large screens

v1.17.0July 13, 2026

A feed that's yours: Following tab, new posts pill, and stronger privacy

This update gives the feed a real shape — a Following tab with just the people you follow, a gentle nudge when new posts land, and a feed that keeps going instead of stopping short. Books you keep private now stay private everywhere, and your settings finally live in one proper place. If you experience any issues with the new features or any existing one, you can always open a ticket using the "Report an issue" action accessible from the profile tab.

  • Choose your feed: For You for what we think you'll love, Following for a simple, newest-first look at the people you follow
  • A "New posts" button now appears when fresh posts arrive, so nothing shifts under you while you're reading
  • The feed no longer stops early — keep scrolling and it keeps going
  • Posts you've already liked or commented on quietly make room for ones you haven't
  • Books you mark private now stay private everywhere: your reviews appear as "Anonymous reader" and your posts about them are hidden from others — turn privacy off and it all comes back
  • Share a note or a quote straight to your feed from any book
  • All your settings, now in one place — with import, export, and account tools each on their own page
  • Photos from your iPhone (HEIC) now upload without a fuss, and oversized files tell you so up front
  • Fixed book covers that sometimes stayed blank, and a notification sound that could crackle when the app woke up
  • Other minor fixes
v1.16.1July 11, 2026

Reply to any message, smarter reading timer, and update reminders

This update lets you reply to a specific message in your chats, keeps your reading timer honest when the app slips into the background, and gives you a heads-up when a new version is ready — plus a handful of fixes. If you experience any issues with the new features or any existing one, you can always open a ticket using the "Report an issue" action accessible from the profile tab.

  • Swipe to reply to a specific message in your direct messages and Nook chats
  • Get a heads-up right in the app when a new version of Booknook is ready
  • Your reading timer now checks in if it kept running while the app was in the background, so a session is never over-counted
  • Clearer challenge goals when only some of the books are required to finish
  • Improved notifications for comments and challenge invites
  • Other minor fixes
